TRANSFORMER MANUFACTURING
The projects range from automation of the existing transformer production process from tank welding through to core winding. Allied to automation of the production process, is the need to upgrade power transformer manufacturing and testing bay capacity to handle units up-to 90MVA. There is opportunity to introduce new product offerings in the form of Aluminium wound and dry type transformers. Design optimisation through computer aided software will further enhance the transformer production plant output and improve operational efficiency. ZENT currently holds an order book of 4600 transformers for ZETDC and REF. Annual ZETDC and REF demand is projected at 4000 units.
ZENT is currently on an aggressive drive to supply transformers to the regional market having previously exported transformers to Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Lesotho and Mozambique. 104 units for EDM of Mozambique are currently under production while a contract for the export of 572 units to Rwanda Energy Group (REG) has recently been concluded. The initial order for 117 transformers for REG is now being loaded into the production line.
The Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) has also placed an order for 170 transformers due for delivery by the end of the current year.
